Here’s another excellent release that a band is releasing for free download. The lead singer is pretty clearly channeling Thom Yorke, which is a good thing as far as I’m concerned. The songs sound as if they could have come off of Radiohead’s Hail to the Thief or perhaps Amnesiac, though the music’s more straightforward that much of Radiohead’s work. I often here a band criticized because they sound too much like another band or artist, but I think such criticism is misguided. If the music’s freaking awesome, who cares? I wish there were more bands who sounded like Radiohead or Nick Drake or Neutral Milk Hotel. Far be it from me to criticize a band that makes awesome music for sounding like another previous band that made awesome music. It’s cinematic electro-rock balladeering with a live pulse; walking, breathing, human music from the future.” An Short EP that makes you eager for their next length.
“Home Video start off with the kind of bassline Snap! would've turned down on grounds of if it being too infectious before snaking sophisticatedly into 'Blue Monday'-era New Order.” - NME
