Probably the Biggest surprise of 2009, these Stillwater, Oklahoma boys have really put together one of the top 10 albums of 2009.
This Debut release from Other Lives is perfect soundtrack companion antidote for the melancholy of June gloom! It's is gorgeous, thoughtful, expansive music. Just don't confuse it with "mopey." It's powerful stuff. Their understanding of both popular & classical compositional techniques is staggering, especially for a group so young. Jesse's voice recalls the best plaintive moments of greats like Thom Yorke & David Bazan, but it's still a voice all his own. If I had to draw comparisons musically, I'd liken it to "Parachutes" era Coldplay crashing fist first into a Sigur Ros concert, which, after a moment of stunned silence, erupts into a glorious celebration of all things beautiful. You would be remiss not to get on board before these kids explode. This Release demands that you take notice and then you will understand what i mean!
Genre: Indie, Rock, Alternative Folk, Progressive. GREAT!
