PLACEBO- Battle For The Sun [2009]

By now, I’m sure all of you are familiar with Placebo’s Glam Rock style of music! Since their 90s heyday, Placebo have always delivered Stadium grinding gothic angst Rock. Brian Molko's nasal whiney voice repeating the same lyrics over and over about, love, drug addiction and sex. But hey isn't that what we have grown to love about Placebo?

Molko's newfound optimism, however, brings some diversity. Their sixth album is probably their brightest to date, stripped of hi-tech clutter, and, as its title implies, the excessive darkness of latter-day outings. There’s plenty of angsty melodrama, still, but some magnificently airy, stadium-sized tunes, too.

With Battle For The Sun we are far away from Black Market Music, but this new album does feature some very interesting choices in instrumentation and more than a few great tracks.

PS: Not too sure about Brian Molko’s long hair…

Genre: Alternative, British Glam-Rock. FINALLY!

  1. Molko with long hair?? I really need to Google it! I listened to this album a couple of time. All I wanted to do is change it to Sleeping with ghosts. It might grow on me.
