KASABIAN- The West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum [2009]

Despite my affection for "Club Foot" and all the other classic tracks from their self-titled debut album in 2004, Kasabian had a lot to prove on their follow-up album Empire (2006). Unfortunetly Empire was not what Fans or i had hoped for, few good cuts here and there but overall a major dissapointment.

Now Kasabian are back strong with The West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (release 6/8/2009). New album was recorded by the band in their hometown studio before being redressed by Dan The Automator in Los Angeles after the realisation that some perspective was required. Album opener (and current soundtrack to a Sony Bravia TV ad’) ‘Underdog’ is a suitably weighty entry into Kasabian’s third outing, combining their trademark heavy (processed) beats, fuzzy electronics, a monster guitar riff and Tom Meighan’s man-on-the-barricades slogans. Album is packed with great tracks that will have you remembering Kasabian as you once loved them. A 52 minute mash up of sky-scraping melodies, Electro-Punk riffs, Morricone-esque symphonics, Mariachi stomps and sych-Pop lullabies, it is both a stadium sized declaration of intent and a bar-raising benchmark for Rock music in 2009. This new album is a MUST in your Musik collection.

Genre: Indie, Rock, British Alternative. MASTERPIECE!
