After a three-year hiatus, indie-rock Brooklyn, New-York's Longwave have returned with their forth release, and make no mistake, Secrets are Sinister is ready to conquer. With several lineup, label, and stylistic change and new producer Peter Katis (Interpol, The National), Longwave take their indie shoegaze/alternative sound and make everything...bigger.
Secrets Are Sinister expands on the band’s trademark sound: atmospheric, arena-sized guitars still build to an epic swell while the band’s penchant for dreamy landscapes now gives way to an equally dynamic but louder, noisier, and more driving sensibility. Hailed in the past by magazines ranging from Rolling Stone to Nylon to Alternative Press, Longwave returns with their most varied and accomplished work to date, from the shimmering “Sirens In The Deep Sea” to the thundering, Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Sleater-Kinney)-produced “Life Is Wrong” to the hopeful title track.'
Longwave may not have reinvented the wheels with Secrets Are Sinister, but the album provides enough great alternative rock anthems worth blasting in the car and wailing at the top of your lungs. I got a chance to catch these guys live a few years back and they are really awesome. Longwave has proven their ability to remain at the top of their game. This one's a must for you melodic indie-rock fans.
Genre : Indie, Rock, Post-Punk, Alternative. GREAT ALBUM!
