Founded in Orlando, Florida, by Daniel Owens and Josie Fluri (who are married), New Roman Times is now based out of Austin, Texas. The current band line-up includes Daniel Owens (Guitar/Vocals), Josie Fluri (Bass/Vocals), Mike Allen (Drums) and Harrris Thurmond (Guitar/Synths). Their debut record, “International Affairs,” was the first release on Florida-based Social Recordings. New Roman Times has opened for many live acts including Death Cab For Cutie, Cursive, Rainer Maria, The Rapture, and VHS or Beta.
Their sophomore release, 'On The Sleeve', was released May 26th on New Granada Records . Songs from 'On The Sleeve' sacrifice neither groove nor heft to their quest for resonant quality songcraft. There’s an earnestness to their tunes that defies the over-it, overly detached posturing of so much danceable rock, that pairs the cool with an engaging humanity. Also, of course, they kill it.
